NEW! There are 4,000+ corporations in the prison industry, it's about time we knew who they are. We just released an interactive database exposing them all. Here's a glimpse at just a few. 🧵 Visit data.worthrises.org to dig deeper into the dark web of prison profiteering.

Charging families $3.46 more twice a week for 52 weeks for an ICare meal cost them $359.84 a year and saves Florida Department of Corrections $366.08. That is the equivalent of families paying for 120 of the 365 days of meals served at the daily rate of $3.049. If the State wants to incarcerate

Nutritious meal with adequate calories per policy? FL State prisoners are losing weight, complaining of excessive lockdowns. Skeleton staff, no canteen where many PAY for supplemental food. My loved one lost 15 lbs in 6 weeks. This is not right. This is pitiful and sad.

As we approach two months since Secretary’s statement that they were working on these price changes, flsenate.gov/media/videopla… Page 21 of the Keefe contract states that it takes 1 business day. Accountability?? Third Party price comparison??

I.E. Securs/JPAY and Aramark/Trinity/Keefe. It's ridiculous that families have no options... I'd rather add him to my Verizon plan as an additional line and pay for him to have a childproof cell phone while in prison and put Netflix on there. It would be cheaper.

👏👏👏to Susan L. Valdés and Dianne Hart for visiting Zephyrhills CI for an Aramark Corporation meal! According to Secretary Dixon at the House Appropriations CJ meeting they investigate grievances they receive regarding food issues. #VisitAPrison

A private immigration prison in WA, run by GEO Group, must pay more than $23 million in back pay & penalties for violating WA’s minimum wage law by paying people it detains just $1/day. GEO argued that detained workers are not “employees” covered by the state’s minimum wage law.

In order to increase Public Safety, Less Victims, Less Crimes, it imperative that those entering the Florida Department of Corrections be able to earn a living when they get out. In 21/22 the average grade level of those entering was less than a 4th grader. Don’t you think we need to do better?

As I listen to personal testimony tears ran down my cheeks. Florida has a history of abuse in the facilities where they lock people up tampabay.com/investigations…

Since I spent over $6,000 in a 23 month period on ViaPath Technologies phones calls, I am extremely grateful for this pilot. “The latest offer from the Senate Criminal and Civil Justice Appropriations Committee budgets $2 million to a phone call savings pilot program for prison inmates’

Can you give imagine the mental trauma all those years. Yet we spend over $800k to incarcerate a shoplifter of 6 DVDs, we don’t find follow the KPMG recommendations and invest more in the immediate Florida Department of Corrections issues. I wish I had Senator Broxson & Representative Leek’s

“There is no way to incarcerate our way out of drug addiction … there is nothing about prisons—the way they are built, the way they are designed, the way they are financed, the way they are structured—that is meant to help deal with drug addiction.” Bianca

The Church of Eleven22 had an excellent sermon last week on “Grace Forgives” What to do when you have been sinned against. It made me think of the victims at the FCOR meetings, still 40 years later filled with so much hatred. youtube.com/live/J87YHfxWS…

Plan to eliminate FDA Nutrition Department! Majority of US & State prisoners will be released home one day. Can our government reassess and properly feed the incarcerated? Easy to improve health, well-being, morale & taxes. All Americans matter. Please? Robert F. Kennedy Jr JD Vance

What about the education taxpayers pay for that is not available? Learning and tablet access reduces idleness. That is a tool to reduce violence. Why is this not a priority? The incarcerated and their families have paid large amounts of money and they cannot access the music,
