All I see is a dying brand that is no longer relevant (and can't be) in its competitive space and so it's boldly reinventing itself, where fine details and perhaps high-level customization will join an iconic name, something that might appeal to richer gen z.

There is no need to always connect everything. Optical balance is the key here which is what original logo does.
