.Mark Warner as a life-long Virginian (with brief stints elsewhere) I have always supported you, but your rushed crypto amendment is a disaster. I called in yesterday to express that you support the Wyden-Lummis-Toomey amendment and this turn is shocking and disappointing.

Imagine if — in the heyday of your telecom investments — Congress required each customer to coordinate with their counterparty on every phone call, and file tax reports based on the number of minutes spent on each call? Imagine if they mandated THE PHYSICAL PHONES had to file?

Would the industry have survived? Perhaps, but as a pale shadow. You likely wouldn’t have accumulated such a tremendous fortune, nor would Americans have benefited from the flurry of investment and development that led to us becoming a global leader in telecommunications.

Do the right thing and rescind your amendment. This is a singular issue for me and millions of other Americans who know cryptocurrency can lead us to an optimistic, inclusive, and powerful countervailing force against the staid and complacent financial incumbents of today.

Otherwise you and any colleagues that support your amendment will lose my vote forever. In every primary, every office, every possible political path you might take — it’s that important to me and millions of others.
