Many of the ppl I interviewed for my PhD talked about how their cat's illness/disability is what made the relationship possible/valuable or how their own illness/disability is something their cat seems to appreciate about them even when other humans don't (their loss, frankly).

I used to resent my mom and hold her responsible for my difficult childhood. On the surface, it looked like she was a terrible mom – abusive, neglectful. My siblings and I suffered and of the 3 of us, I’m the only one still alive and experiencing any quality of life. 1/

I’m a feminist.

And somehow, by virtue of being married to a cis-het man in this society, I’ve still managed to end up with an unfair physical and mental load and it’s unfair. And I don’t know how to undo it and we don’t talk about that enough.
