I love to run and lift. I hope to inspire others to find fitness as a source for physical and mental wellness. A happy non drinker since 2-25-20.

I think the people struggling with cravings are often the ones believing they are giving up something (and using willpower) rather than looking at it like they are free from alcohol. They probably think alcohol still could provide them pleasure & support, when it will not.

Giving the body a much needed rest day on this Saturday. Only the third rest day of August. Grilling, playing in the backyard with my kiddos, and watching college football will be the plan!

Some days the motivation to workout is low. Today is one of those days. Pushing myself to the gym for a lift though and I’m sure I’ll be glad I did afterwards.

I cover high school football on Friday nights for a local tv station. I thought it would be fun to share what it looks like shooting a game from this perspective.

As the running mileage has increased this summer so have the nerdy running accessories. First it was the handheld water bottle. Now it’s the reflective vest….😬#running #ukrunchat

It’s basically an automatic mood boost. If running isn’t your thing, and I understand it’s not for everyone, any exercise where you work up a sweat will do.

It’s a rainy and busy day here. Squeezing the gym in for a run would be really challenging so it’s going to be a wet outside run!

If you’re struggling on a run, here is a great tip to try and yes it is cheesy…try smiling for the next 5 minutes of your run and see if it helps. #running #ukrunchat

I have a weird superstition…I like to think that if I get a great workout in, my team will win. College football is finally here! #GoHawks

After a much needed rest day Sunday and a lift day Monday, my legs were fresh and I was so excited to go outside and run! 9 really solid miles in the books today. #runners #run #ukrunchat

I haven’t been on here much over the last week. Just busy with life, but in a good way. I’m never going to force tweets/messages to try and gain followers. I hope everyone is out there doing their thing. And if you’re a regular workout warrior like myself, keep getting after it!

I left this platform several months ago because of the huge amount of people struggling with their addictions felt overwhelming. I wanted to try and help every single person get to a healthy place. I wish I could make that happen. (Pt1 cont.)

(Pt.2) I’m not sure how much I’ll be around to offer advice but I hope all those struggling find their way to freedom. Alcohol provides zero benefits, and the sooner you change your mindset and understand that, the sooner and easier it will be to become a happy non drinker.

1. There are a lot of different ways to become a happy non drinker. AA is not the only way. Sorry to the AA crowd but it’s true. 2. Flip your mindset from “I can’t drink anymore” to thinking “yay I get to be free from alcohol!”3. Understand alcohol provides zero benefits.

I ran outside four times last week in 50+ degree weather. Today, school was canceled because of snow. This is Iowa in March.
