Ice is out, sun is out and mechanic is out. A few defects to sort out today at this Surrey Fire & Rescue Service station. A damaged tyre, a faulty blue intersection lamp along with a windscreen chip. Thank you for the warm refreshments. Now on to the next and hopefully last windscreen chip 🤞

We at Surrey Fire & Rescue Service workshops are currently looking for a Workshop Supervisor to join the team, take a look at the link below 🧰🚒👇 surreycc.gov.uk/jobs/search/de…

Today at workshops we wished a work colleague mechanic 🧰🚒Trefor Hall all the very best on his retirement on his final day, following 34 years dedicated service with Surrey Fire & Rescue Service (Surrey Fire Brigade as it was back in 1991).

Spent today repairing testing the CAFS(Compressed Air Foam System) on this Surrey Fire & Rescue Service appliance. Was a broken speed sensor, cog and wire within the foam pump. There’s not much room to work along with the plumbing and electrics. Yes, there is a 4000ltr a minute pump in there to.

New Surrey Fire & Rescue Service generation 3 AT appliance only ‘On the Run’ just 24hrs to be off the run with a puncture, following picking up debris. A new tyre fitted with a chance the damaged one maybe repairable 🤞🚒🧰

Out around warm Surrey today carrying out running repairs which included visiting this Surrey Fire & Rescue Service station. Between these two appliances they can be mobile carrying 9000 litres of water on board. That’s not including the carried chilled drinking water bottles.

Towed one of the new event trailers today. If you haven’t seen them already, you will at events like Surrey Fire & Rescue Service fire station open days through out 2025. A couple more additions to the fleet for us to inspect, maintain and service. There’s always something different to do.

This week, I’m down to inspect all the various appliances at Surrey Fire & Rescue Service Guildford Fire Station. A busy station that it is, I might as well move in for the week and some, especially if there’s a spare bed going, plus if I need to turn out on my duty week, I’ll be central Surrey.

Just when I thought it was safe to get some late shut eye, not a chance. Mobilised to a broken down Surrey Fire & Rescue Service WRL. Unfortunate engine failure, recovery organised for it to visit workshops, it’s very poorly. Thank you RS Recovery for your assistance. Our work is very varied.

Another EFAD(Emergency Fire Appliance Driving) theory and practical refresher completed. The Surrey Fire & Rescue Service duty mechanics are trained to this very high standard of driving which can be used as an extra tool if and when required. #notjustmechanics
