I'm sure the reach isn't nearly as much as other social media (which Pierre Poilievre is also great at) but I do really enjoy the trend of politicians with substacks See also Neil O'Brien, Michelle Rempel Garner Garner's substacks (& of course the James Gray chronicles!)

What irritates me even more is we're coming up on three decades since we decided which countries need to pay for climate action which means Greece has to pay but China and the UAE do not!

Pretty impressive that it's a political norm in Canada for an MP in a safe seat to step down so a defeated party leader can re-enter the Commons. Don't know if I'd trust UK political parties to manage this.

I understand what Lee kuan yew meant when someone asked him how he turned a third world country into a first world country & he said “air conditioning”

It has been like 10 years since Croissant Neuf stopped being its own festival but it makes me so nostalgic to see the tent still going

Heat pumps that work as AC units: - are heavily discouraged by building regs - don't benefit from the £7k heat pump grant scheme - and will give you a lower EPC rating (making your mortgage more expensive).

Sad that Americans seem largely unaware of how much good they've done around the world (imagine few Europeans know either)

Exciting to be labelled a 'CCHQ operative' - a thing I most certainly am not. But I didn't ask about net zero. I asked why you were talking about cheap bills when you want to bury all pylons underground, which is between 3 and 10 times more expensive than not burying them.

For a party that claims to care about businesses and bills Reform doesn't seem to realise that one of the best reasons to still invest in the UK is our legal system and the fact we don't, for example, renege on legal contracts at a whim This is a v expensive publicity stunt

Big infrastructure projects like Tideway do not come cheap. The Conservatives made novel financing for Tideway possible. Other projects should be able to do this too. That's why the gov should take on Thérèse Coffey's amendment to the Planning & Infrastructure Bill 👇

Oh no! Let's not put solar panels on some land, even though it's very much reversible - let's fantasise about maybe building some fracking infrastructure When We Win instead. But also not allow the building of any transmission infrastructure as well Absolute peasant mentality.

Have just seen Lunch with the FT with Zia Yusuf. In it, he: ⚪️ Mistakes the whole-economy net cost of NZ (*peaking* at £35bn/y) for the annual fiscal cost to Government (avg of £30bn/y) ⚫️Doesn't know that 2/3 of the £30bn is from lost fuel duty, not govt expenditure
