I could write my own version of this essay and statistically, a lot of you probably could, too. Our society does not recognize or reckon with the way untreated trauma shapes our culture and motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of PTSD in the general population.

Victim/Advocate: I SUFFER TOO. I stay up late at night thinking of ways to fight harder for families impacted by hit and run driving. Often I find myself having a fear of failing families because I’m wading in unfamiliar territories myself.

I feel invisible, unheard, unsupported. Deep down inside I’m torn, uncomfortable, silently screaming inside. I push down my fears, tears and cries KNOWING there is one more family who WILL have a need.

I seek refuge in GOD and find my strength; even in the midst of this battle of my mind. So I fight in one single voice in a crowd of many. I drown out the noise in some area, push harder while working in an already tough world to reveal many FH stories.

I don’t fight for the likes, retweet’s or followers..this fight is for the victims of Hit and Run Driving; who’s voice is silenced by 2000 Ibs of metal. I’m always seeking your support to help spread the word.

How do you run a non-profit with a focus for something you’ve been impacted by and learn it’s a bigger problem; work to shine the light on the issue without seeming selfish or sounding like your problem is the only one that matters. I passionately know there are more focuses.
