First generation students face unique challenges, including figuring out the application process, making connections, and navigating campus resources. That’s why we have created a student organization aimed at improving the college experience for first generation USC students.

First generation students are less likely to reach out to teachers and mentors for help. Make sure to be proactive in talking to these students. Ask them about how they’re doing and what problems they’re having. You never know how much of a difference it can make.
