Pieter Maes Firefighter Mayday Brandweerman In Nood I would go for a strong white LED's with a spherical lens. They should have great battery life and visibility if you drop them on the flow. Would also consider slow-blinking so you can tell it is this device when the light gets scattered and you just see afterglow. Interesting!

Would it make sense to try and combine that: visual wavelength of light and then a sort of wavelength that is captured by a TIC? Many FF carry a TIC. If it makes the light more visible (distance) why not.

Can FF capture different patterns in light pulses during interior firefighting and from what distance. 1 puls = 2 seconds. Alfa could be 2s puls, 2s pause. Delta would be 4 x that. Inbetween the sequences 4s pause.
