Garretts also manufactured Watsonian Patent Fern Bricks. Patented by a doctor in 1859, these bricks were designed for planting ferns and mosses, to be hung on their own, built into walls, or even placed indoors on a table. 📸 Fernery, Newstead Abbey, Notts © Alan Murray-Rust 5/5

16/10/20 Lancs - Not been on #twitter much the last week or so due to moving house, plus we have no internet or decent mobile reception at the new pad. We do however have lots more wildlife - here’s some #lichens and Polypody #ferns in our wall #fernfriday

Definitely one for the calendar, a talk by expert @westo_fernnerd on evolution and endemism, and even better featuring #Clubmoss #FernFriday British Pteridological Society (5pm GMT via YouTube)

A great day doing a comprehensive Asplenium septentrionale count together with Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru | Natural Resources Wales staff. Some positive site actions have already been done, and a good discussion on a management plan to look after this very special site.
