The SLP and Literacy Curriculum teams are collaborating to discuss appropriate texts for beginning readers. Together we reviewed information from Shifting the Balance by Jan Burkins and Kari Yates so we are better able to support staff and students! 📚

Algonquin PS we use Sentence Trees during whole class and small group instruction to practice our reading skills with decodable sentences. Ss gain confidence when reading these decodable sentences, turning an "I can't" into an "I can"! @tvdsbslp @SpecialEd_tvdsb TVDSBLiteracy
