Is this person going to scale? If you work at a startup, you’ve certainly heard this question before. :) What I learned about people that scale. building.brex.com/what-i-learned…

I'm sure there might be others who have said this, but I think a huge reason that Zoom meetings can be so exhausting, and so inadequate compared to in-person meetings, is the loss of shared information as it arises within a shared room.

A north eastern storm is hammering our coastal defenses. I sit here below sea level, feeling completely safe, doing work on a stable internet, because scientists and engineers have done awesome things.

Putin's invasion of Ukraine has given us a moment of moral clarity. We can no longer afford to indulge the illusions we spun for our own consumption during the Long Peace. noahpinion.substack.com/p/a-moment-of-…

Long thread about how I think the first 96 hours have gone, still very early/incomplete impressions. The initial Russian operation was premised on terrible assumptions about Ukraine’s ability & will to fight, and an unworkable concept of operations. Moscow badly miscalculated. 1/

Adam Rackis My question with testing techniques is always "does this improve my overall productivity". I've found that pure write-the-test-first TDD doesn't do that so I mostly avoid it Bundling tests in the same commit as the implementation DOES help my productivity simonwillison.net/2022/Oct/29/th…

Adam Rackis Peer Richelsen We should all avoid confusing "don't deploy on Friday" with "don't deploy as you're walking out the door". Wasting ~20% of your deploy time per-week because you fear things going wrong is silly. Deploying as you walk out the door is selfish. Both are true!
