Some thoughts on the potential likelihood of Apple/OCL provisioning Octopus on non-Japanese iPhone 7 devices on the launch of iOS 13: reddit.com/user/FelicaDud…

Do the Japanese SKUs of the Pixel 4 implement Mobile FeliCa according to FAST-AP-014? More details: reddit.com/user/FelicaDud…

Mobile PASMO: or, how to waste countless hours on a boondoggle that is only required because of politics. We shouldn't need this. reddit.com/user/FelicaDud…

Most of you don't need it, and some of you resent having to use it. Quite a number of you just can't have it, and most of you will have to abandon Mobile Suica to use it. Announcing Mobile PASMO! Like Mobile Suica -- but worse! We did this for *us.* reddit.com/user/FelicaDud…

PASMO for Mobile FeliCa: a travesty of corporate incompetence. New devices still launched with MF 3.0/4.0 (no Suica coexistence) because their OEMs don't care. Pixel 4a 5G/Pixel 5 (MF 4.1): users must wait. Mobile FeliCa: pasmo.co.jp/mp/and/start/d… Apple Pay: "iPhone 8 and later".

Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 devices for the Japan market are finally compatible with Mobile PASMO (and as expected for a Mobile FeliCa v4.1 implementation, Suica coexistence is possible), but there should be no need for this kind of per-model qualification.

Osaifu Keitai 9.0 now shows the Pixel 5 SEID in the ‘view memory usage’ menu. This SEID is actually the prefixed eSIM EID. It would be interesting to see what carrier devices (those that are Mobile FeliCa 4.0 and later) show.

SEID shown in Osaifu Keitai 9.0: MF 4.0 and below: IDm. MF 4.1: FeliCa Networks secure element (NXP eSE, JCOP OS) = prefix F00001, Google SE (ST54J eSIM+NFC combi eSE with G+D OS) = prefix F00002. Two separate eSE domains? Plans for provisioning 'My Number' Type B applet OTA?

Here is an example of the F00001 domain (FeliCa Networks) SEID, taken at a carrier store (NTT DoCoMo branded device). Most demonstration devices restrict the update of Osaifu-Keitai to version 9.0+, so it is non-trivial to gather these IDs.

Plans for Individual Number card issuance on (some) Mobile FeliCa 4.1 devices seem to include some hiring some people to actually sell it: doda.jp/DodaFront/View…

As suspected, Mobile FeliCa 4.1 Felica Networks SEIDs (F...01 prefix) are derived from the eSE GlobalPlatform CPLC data. For the Google eSEs (F..02), the Mobile FeliCa SEID is simply the decimal eSIM eID. Below is Xiaomi's 'Cit' test tool with Osaifu Keitai SEID data overlaid.

Both Pixel 6 Japan SKUs have IC type 0x18 in the PMm field just like the Pixel 5, so these are almost certainly Mobile FeliCa 4.1 devices. Even if they were 0x19, they could still be version 4.1: Mobile FeliCa 3.0 had two type codes, and 2.0 had four. sony.co.jp/Products/felic…

New “F3” eSE domain on the Rakuten Hand 5G, with a new SEID pattern (seems to be neither eSE CPLC data or the eSIM eID). Still Mobile FeliCa 4.1.
