A great day in Derby teaching alongside John Johnson 8th dan. I covered various forms of limb-control in order to open the enemy up for strikes. John covered Saifa applications. Always great fun to work with John. Was also fantastic to see everyone!

On Saturday, I taught alongside John Johnston 8th dan! John covered Bassai-Dai / Passai methods being used preemptively, with consideration of the surrounding environment, etc. I covered karate throws from the older texts. Great fun as always and fantastic to see you all!

Kenwa Mabuni receiving a “double punch” / yama-zuki. The lower hand is not punching but gripping & clearing a path for the punch. I’ve never been convinced by “double punches” and feel the bottom hand clearing a path (gripping or knocking) is a better way to view the technique.
