Lisa Baylis Faith Colobong (she/her) This is so true! I model this with my students. I tell them you what I am having a bad day. Something happened that upset but it is okay to feel how I feel. I tell them how I will work through it. I have some smart grade 4s who always help each other when struggling. #mbedchat

What a wonderful evening. So glad to see you all - even if just on a screen, immortalized in +/-140 characters. So glad I had the opportunity to partake in my first #MBEdChat. I'll be here for the next one, for sure!

Learned about the #FlippedClassroom model today in my ELA Methods class, which focuses on skill development in class time rather than delivery of material (which is lecture-driven & teacher-centered). More info here: tinyurl.com/mr2vvn52 (thanks, U of Waterloo!). #ICT362

It's important to remind your students that grades/test scores/assignment marks have no bearing to their worth. Numbers/letters do not make someone's identity! Loved this TikTok: vm.tiktok.com/ZMLF4g5c9/. #Affirmations #GrowthMindset #ICT362

This one's for my fellow English nerds who need a tool to teach figurative language to their students: youtube.com/watch?v=3K9pd6…. I've got this rap stuck in my head!! It's so catchy. #ELA #ELARaps #Educational #ICT362

Attention: educators! The Nature Conservancy has a series of virtual field trips on their website: nature.org/en-us/about-us… This is a great resource for educators, as field trips typically come with great expense, and are difficult to organize during the pandemic. #ICT362

Black History Month is coming to an end but it doesn't mean we should stop educating ourselves. Here is a write-up on how to teach Black history in the classroom in culturally responsive ways: edutopia.org/article/teachi…. #ICT362

With the new year comes new vigor, excitement, and expectations. Lets help our students become their very best. But let's also remember that everyone struggles with something. So lets never forget to be kind, caring, and forgiving. "Relationships before Rigor".

My classroom management improved when I focused more on creativity and collaboration and less on compliance. Instead of trying to catch kids doing things wrong, we celebrated the amazing things they did well, and those “things” got exponentially better because the fear was gone.
