We are disgusted that a loophole will allow these regulations to go into effect today without proper protocol. It’s a sad day for academic freedom in SC public schools, but we will continue to fight.

Thank you to our friend @mr_nuzum for laying out the concerns with the statewide book regulations so clearly. The state now takes power away from local districts in a way they aren’t equipped to handle. abcnews4.com/news/local/sou…

The new state book review regulations are alarming . Especially concerning when you take into consideration that they could undo all we’ve spent the last 2 years fighting. islandpacket.com/news/local/edu…

"I am often asked how I became an activist, and my answer is always that I never set out to be one. I simply wanted to save a book that mattered to me, and I never stopped advocating." #BannedBooksWeek Youth Honorary Chair Julia Garnett shares the story➡️ schoollibraryjournal.com/story/Evolutio…

This #BannedBooksWeek, I'm challenging everyone to #ResolveToRead and share a passage from a favorite banned book. I read from Orwell's 1984. Take the challenge, then pass it on! Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost, Congressman Greg Casar and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: I challenge you to read a banned book out loud!

The state board will review the first 11 challenged titles on 10/31 in a virtual meeting. As a reminder: what the state board decides impacts every public school district in the state. We are working diligently to organize/strategize. Please help us inform more folks!
