Jesus and justice - Justice is renewed through reshaping humanity at its root back into the image of God, through self-giving love in close relational contact. God enters our broken system, shows us the way, bearing the cost of doing so, so that we can now show others the way.

This book is one of the most moving things I have read in years. Phenomenal. Thank you Beth Moore for recommending it. I wish I had read it sooner and I wish I could read it again for the first time.

One of the hardest parts about being a pastor is caring deeply about someone and investing in that relationship for years (not because it's your job but because you care for them), and then learning that they wanted you to be their pastor without allowing you to be human.

We seek worldly power to the degree that we doubt the power of divine Grace, not b/c our faith in it is particularly strong. If that weren’t the case, then you wouldn’t hear how much of a threat “they” are. Perfect love (divine Grace) casts out fear (worship of worldly power).

The next time someone asks me for a blatant example of political idolatry, I will send them this Ron DeSantis ad. This is what happens when you stop living in the biblical story and start living in the culture war story.
