Christine Elliott As a family physician I am frustrated by the ongoing dispute between optometrists and the MOH. I saw a 12 year old patient who has visual acuity of 20/200 and cannot get an appointment with her optometrist. Please resolve this. Patients are suffering.

November is Diabetes awareness month. Eye exams are an integral part of the health & mgmt of those with diabetes. Unfortunately the Ontario Government has jeopardized this model b/c these patients can't access eye care due to the govt refusal to commit. So sorry Diabetes Canada #saveeyecare

How fair is it for Optometrists whose expertise often uncovers other health problems; but OHIP considers the value of an eye exam is $47. The lowest rate in any Canadian province and a rate that hasn’t increased in 30 years. #SaveEyeCare #OHIP #DougFord

This is a big problem but the Ontario Government doesn't care. They don't value eye care and aren't taking any steps to rectify the broken system that Optometrists been trying to make work for 30+ years. Care will either suffer/ become completely inaccessible in the future #SaveEyeCare
