Such a great success! Congrats to everyone involved including our team in the Environmental Futures and Big Data Impact Lab. See the e-voyager in action and hear from the skipper by following e-Voyager #zeroCarbon

🌧 What a difference! Earlier this week we continued our sea trials and ventured out to Cawsand Bay. e-Voyager handled crossing Plymouth Sound brilliantly and even managed to find some sunshine ⛅️ #viewfromthewheelhouse #electricferryboat #seatrials #eboat #goinggreen #plymouth

Photovoltaic panels will harness the energy of the sun to operate the onboard domestic services and monitor the electric drive system. Weighing in at 120 kilos the design team is altering the ballast by adding weight to the keel, ensuring the vessel is perfectly balanced.

Did you know, each year diesel engines emit hundreds of tons of CO2 each year in Plymouth’s waters alone? Luke Christison, Senior Technical Project Manager for Environmental Futures and Big Data Impact Lab at University of Plymouth monitored emissions from MV Plymouth Princess this summer.

The data will be compared with that of our new, zero carbon, green vessel e-Voyager and measure environmental improvement. Our vision is to create a fully electric fleet, helping to reduce the greenhouse gases that cause global warming.

Travelling by a diesel-powered boats can be noisy, by converting to an electric motor, we are not only reducing our emissions but also enhancing the customer experience. However, engine noise is not only an issue for us humans, it also effects marine wildlife.

Research has shown that manmade noise in our oceans can affect communication and hunting for marine animals. Our move to green , zero carbon vessels is also giving our marine life one less thing to worry about. #evoyager #electricboat #futureisgreen #reducingenginenoise

The incredible team behind e-Voyager have safely progressed this ground-breaking project, through 3 periods of national lockdown to launch the UK’s first sea going passenger vessel. Keep your eyes peeled Plymouth Boat Trips will be launching the first passenger service later this year

Over the winter months e-Voyager has been back to Voyagerboatyard in Cornwall for the installation of 3 Solar PV Panels. The energy generated will operate the onboard domestic systems and monitor the electric drive system throughout daily service #electricboat #solarpower #eboat
