New manuscript and my 15th publication as a KUMC postdoc! We analyzed data from ~260 adults with Down syndrome participating in the Alzheimer Biomarkers Consortium — Down Syndrome study and found that unintentional weight loss occurs alongside Aβ deposition and prior to onset of dementia. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36565120/
We need 4 more adults with Down syndrome to volunteer for a physical activity research opportunity at KU Medical Center. This study focuses on improving our ability to measure movement while walking using portable accelerometers.
I’m excited for this event! I’m working with others from KU Medical Center, Down Syndrome Innovations, and Special Olympics KS to host a event that includes yoga, Zumba, fitness stations, and keynote from Chris Nikic - the first person with Down syndrome to finish an Ironman. Come join us!
