Emotional abuse is a tactic used by abusers to control their partner. This can include insults, threats, rejection, yelling, and/or making you doubt your own feelings and thoughts.

Isolation isn't always what it looks like such as being confined to one's home. It can also include monitoring their social media, screening their phone calls, and in extreme cases moving them hours away from friends and family.

IPV plays a vital role in job loss and insecurity. In fact, it is one of the many ways an abuser will exert power and control over their partner by making them financially dependent on them.

Minimizing, Denying, and Blaming is another control tactic an abuser will use to control their partner. Take a look at the graphic to learn more.

American Indian and Alaska Native women are 1.2 times as likely as non-Hispanic white-only women to have experienced violence in their lifetime and 1.7 times as likely to have experienced violence in the past year.
