Dachau was the first concentration camp, opened by the Nazis in 1933 to imprison political opponents: socialists, communists, trade unionists. No right wing conservatives were sent there though (in the same month Dachau was opened they voted in support of Hitlers Enabling Act)

If you're passionate about a subject and you have never been to a conference about it, that's a place where I'd say there is a huge growth edge. The difference between 10 and 11 conferences is relatively small. But between never and once is huge. Going and seeing so many people

Very pleased that a Spanish translation of The Individualists is coming out with Siglo XXI this summer. But I’m hoping someone out there can help me with one question: ¿cómo se dice “Bleeding Heart Libertarianism” en español?

This is probably the single feature that makes China most unique as a civilization in human history: it is pretty much the only one where religion never had a say in political affairs. We often wrongly believe that China's secularism came with Communism but this couldn't be more

What older people do not understand is that when normie zoomer/younger millennials who came of age in the Bernie era say they want socialism, they don’t mean the USSR. They mean France or Norway or Canada or whatever. Basically, they want social democracy (what Sanders and co are

I'm curious about the historical precident of the 'children deserve innocence' idea, because it seems to be relatively new. When did people start thinking this?

Is Disney cooked for real? How much time and money do you think it would have taken a team to do this the traditional way of working/animating? Because now you can do it in 5 minutes by giving an AI a simple prompt (Seedance 2.0) 🤯

This is so dumb, I'm almost speechless. Almost. 1st, no technology is inevitable. But 2nd and more importantly, EVEN IF IT WERE, the immense wealth potentially generated by AIs COULD BE (and should be) distributed more fairly, since all AIs are trained on data created by humans.

Sweden is committing more than €100 million to a sweeping classroom overhaul: replacing tablets and screens with traditional printed textbooks to help reverse falling student performance and sharpen focus. After more than a decade of embracing digital-first education, Swedish

I'm a little surprised by this (or will be, if I find it to be true), seeing as how it's a commonplace that conservatives seem to be better at putting aside their differences for activism's sake.

If person A is a racist, and person B points out that fact, is it necessarily true that person B's motivation is to "get a sense of superiority"? If no, should it be assumed? If no, what the fuck is going on here?
