Important advice for college athletes: Before signing any #NIL revenue share agreement, carefully review it for a “termination for convenience” clause. If you find one, refuse to sign unless it’s removed. This type of clause allows the school to end your agreement and stop

I know there are some people who don't like the idea of college athletes transferring schools. But being a sports fan doesn't mean you get to own the athletes. College athletes are people too, and they enjoy the same free-market labor rights under capitalism that you and I do.

Saw language in a NIL contract from a Power 4 school today that said: “we can terminate this contract at any time and in its sole and absolute discretion upon written notice to student athlete” And many will sign with this school not realizing anything. Make sure you have

Heads up for athletes negotiating #NIL revenue sharing agreements: Most schools are trying to make your final payment, often the largest one, contingent on you not entering the transfer portal after the upcoming season. This isn’t something you have to accept. Remember: these

To those claiming these are pay-for-play contracts rather than #NIL licensing agreements, I urge you to read them. Schools and conferences deliberately structure these to explicitly clarify they are not pay-for-play or employment contracts. They can’t have it both ways.

Portal chaos: Fake numbers. Broken promises. Too many reps, not enough accountability. If you’ve got 10+ kids… who’s really getting represented? SMFH

These markets exist for different reasons. “NIL” has historically been treated as a catch-all, but I hope we evolve beyond that framing.

#NIL Contract Review Tip: Watch for "sole discretion" language. Universities often draft contracts giving themselves unilateral decision-making power, including termination rights, at their "sole discretion." When possible, push to change this to "reasonable discretion" and/or

There really isn’t “unlimited” money in CFB. It may appear that way, there definitely is many wealthy donors. But the money isn’t recycled. It’s not a sustainable business model. NIL, as it’s currently laid out, is donation based. And these donations are not tax deductible.

How does a Division I FBS team value each position for revenue sharing — we’ve got it. This American Conference school laid it out in an email obtained through an Extra Points open records request. Full breakdown on The Final Exam: finalexam.beehiiv.com/p/the-final-ex…

This exposes the fiction of #NIL "license agreements." They're employment contracts disguised to avoid labor protections, workers' comp, and union rights. If players are employees in all but name (fined for tardiness, required to attend, and subject to performance obligations),
