Anyone else have to draw a model to help them visualize the information about the layers of Earth? I found it helpful, especially once I started reading about the volume formula used to determine the size of the core vs. the mantle. #Bclubsci #SEP4 #CCScaleProportionQuantity

"...thus the mantle could have retained enough water and carbon dioxide to eventually sweat out an ocean and atmosphere." #BclubSci

It was a good reminder to read that in natural science, rarely is there one clear-cut answer, especially when we consider that none of us were alive during some of these time periods. #BclubSci #SEPs

I find it so incredible to think about how unique Earth is in that it hit just the right combination in which liquid water and plate tectonics could work together to eventually allow for a habitable surface. We live on such a special planet! #BclubSci

After reading all the elements that make up the Rare Earth hypothesis, I am in awe at how unique we are, as a truly habitable planet and as a species! #BclubSci #LS1 #LS2 #LS4

"The most important ingredient in our climate is the sunlight we receive." I knew the sun was important for our climate, but I might have guessed water to hold the same or a greater place. Learned something new! #BclubSci #CCcauseandeffect

Erica Barlow (@ericakbarlow) 's Twitter Profile Photo

"In total, the Earth's surface absorbs about 70 percent of the incoming sunlight (the other 30 percent leads to an effect called Earthshine...)." #BclubSci

Am I the only one who kept reading amine as anime?😂It was interesting to read about the links between amine molecules (amino acids), proteins, and enzymes. #BclubSci ##CCsystemsandsystemmodels

I've recently been watching Star Trek: Enterprise on Netflix and remember one of the alien races was called Progenitors. It was funny to read the term in Chapter 7 this week. #BclubSci #MAC

I remember watching a documentary on the thermophiles living near mid ocean ridge hydrothermal vents and chimneys. I remember being amazed that these tube worms could not only thrive in such a hot environment, but also such a dark environment. #BclubSci #MAC

It’s okay to be anxious over what’s happening around the world! It’s okay to talk about it. It’s okay to ramp up the self-care, and it's okay to seek extra mental health help! #wellnesswednesday #selfcare #mentalhealth

The past week has offered lots of opportunity to exercise flexibility, patience, and ingenuity. I am so thankful to have such excellent mentors from whom to learn. Shout out to Gina for helping me get started using the Remind app to communicate with families!
