Since inception in 1986 Tissue Culture & Cryopreservation Unit at ICAR-NBPGR pioneered development of micropropagation, in vitro conservation & cryopreservation protocols & applying them for in vitro genebanking (1,927 accessions, 38K cultures) & cryo-genebanking (12K accessions).
