Beautiful Byland Abbey in the sunshine 🌞 A truly outstanding example of early gothic architecture, it inspired the design of York Minster's famous rose window. 🌹

The #Cenotaph has been draped in flags to mark the upcoming 80th anniversary of #VEDay - the 8th of May 1945 marked the end of the war in Europe after years of conflict.   This moving tribute, facilitated by Department for Culture, Media and Sport, echoes The Cenotaph’s unveiling by King George V in 1920.

Temple Church: Bristol’s very own leaning tower! Built by the Knights Templar in the 1100s, this site has seen medieval monks, WWII bombs, and centuries of change. ⚔️ You can still see the leaning tower, ancient walls, and the footprint of the original round church today.

On this day in 1819, Queen Victoria was born. 👑 Her birthdays at Osborne would typically feature the Royal Marines band playing below her window, gifts on the 'birthday table', and family walks in the gardens. 📸 Osborne, 1857. © National Portrait Gallery, London.
