The several records of #Stonehenge carvings have yet to be fully examined or reported on. Robert Newall took many casts (said in Cleal et al 1995 to be in Salisbury Museum) and made several paper rubbings soon after the first discovery 1/3

The ancient cairn of Dunmail Raise now lies bang in the central reservation of the A591 dual carriageway. It's said to mark the grave of #Dunmail, last King of #Strathclyde and Cumbria, defeated in 945 by the Saxons. The king's golden crown was thrown into #Grisedale Tarn.

Old Weird Britain This place refers to Dyfnwal ab Owain, the 10th king of Strathcycle, who died in 975. As a result of the extension far beyond the valley of the River Clyde, his realm became known as the Kingdom of #Cumbria. He died while on a pilgrimage to Rome, slain by the #Saxons on the pass.

Nettles are excellent in the treatment of #anaemia because of their high iron content. Nettle tea was commonly used to counter the effects of heavy #periods, since the plant has blood staunching properties as well as being iron-rich. #folkremedy #herblore

The Autumnal Equinox has firm roots in Mayan tradition, and twice a year at the exact moment the Autumnal Equinox strikes and the sun shines directly on the equator, an enormous “snake of sunlight” is said to slither down the stairs of the Mayan pyramid at Chichen Itza in Mexico.

Hi @TwitterSupport, it seems all Taylor Swift tweets are showing in the #FolkloreThursday feed today, whether they include the hashtag or not. This is an unrelated hashtag for sharing folklore. Can you help, and stop them being included? Thanks for your help!

In #JapaneseFolklore futakuchi onna is a #yokai that looks like a normal woman, but who is actually hiding a second mouth under the hair on the back of her head. Endlessly hungry, she stuffs whatever food she finds into this ravenous extra mouth. #SuperstitionSat 1/2

A company of #fairies were in the habit of going about from cottage to cottage in north #Wales. Those who gave them an ungracious welcome were subject to bad luck for the rest of their lives, but those who were good to the little folk became recipients of their favour. #folkore
