The energy transition is coming. Today those winds blew fierce as #FERC dropped the long-awaited #DER Order and PJM stakeholders supported changes that will finally allow energy storage to participate in the capacity market. What’s up next?

This is fun! So why is the gas over-generating, even as solar ramps down? I saw one explanation that said primary frequency response (inertia), but I thought the Hornesdale Power Reserve with Tesla had that covered.

Great #EBAIgnite panel on the line between Federal and State jurisdiction on DER. I see the Federal Power Act language as clear when applied directly, and blurry only when looked at through the lens of paradigms past. The chosen participation model determines the jurisdiction!

Check out this post in which the awesome Lauren Scolnic streamlines my take on FERC/State jurisdiction on DER- the language of the FPA is clear when we stop trying to look at through an outdated lens!

I love the idea of restaurants not distinguishing between “paying and non-paying customers.” If you have some extra lunch money, consider putting it here! Jason Burwen 🔋🔋🔋 vouches for the deliciousness of the food.

Pleasantly surprised that Bill Gates’ How To Avoid a Climate Disaster hypes energy efficiency and flexible demand as keys to decarbonizing the grid! There is plenty of room for reprioritizing since they are discussed AFTER direct air capture… but it’s something.

Was today years old when: I realized that climate change IS the biggest threat to reliability that there is (heatwaves, hurricanes, floods, droughts), so when people talk about reliability risks of decarbonization they only mean short-term reliability...

This is cool! What immediately jumps out at me is 1) imagine what more could be done if flexible load was included! and 2) the huge contribution that rooftop solar is making!

I think Dr. Dre was the real winner last night. But I'm still grappling with how I should feel about the apt word change to "I been in the game for *30* years making rap tunes..."

Anachronism Alert: Trying to get the Bluelink set up on my otherwise very modern and totally digital Ioniq 5 EV... and the Bluelink helpline says "just grab a paperclip" and push the tiny reset button. Who has a paperclip anymore?! To reset their EV?!

Heartbroken this morning after processing the news that this country no longer views women as autonomous, whole adults with full rights to their own bodies or physical and mental health. Devastated for the women, children, families and generations who will be directly harmed.

Power System Nerd Question: after the short but impressive storm in the DC area, we are having recurring blackouts lasting up to one minute and low power for seconds at a time (more than a current in-rush). What storm-related issue would cause this?

The thing that concerns me about this headline is that the message "corporations call on Congress" is currently more powerful than "humans call on Congress." utilitydive.com/news/exelon-pg… via Utility Dive

Is there any more exquisite hell than waiting for a toddler to get themselves into their car seat and buckled all by themselves when you are already late?

PSA for holistic approaches to policy: My county adopted a ban against plastic straws and ⁦Wendy’s⁩ and ⁦McDonald's⁩ have both switched from paper cups with plastic straws to fully plastic cups with paper straws! #unintendedconsequences #dontjudgemydietcokeaddiction
