US House Republicans are trying to force a $1 billion spending cut on DC--for no other reason other than b/c they can under Home Rule. This reckless policy choice will cause more homelessness & poverty, harm public safety goals, & throw the FY 2025 budget severely out of balance.

These #SNAP cuts could make it harder for children in families with low incomes to get enough to eat. Meanwhile the funds states would have to contribute wouldn't be available to help meet their other needs.

On top of Congressional proposals that would reduce assistance that helps children in families with low incomes get enough to eat or see a doctor, their housing could be at risk too cbpp.org/research/pover…

The #SNAP cuts that would likely result from this cost-shifting proposal would not only put children at risk of losing SNAP benefits, but would make it harder for eligible low-income children to get #WIC or free #schoolmeals.

The Administration says it wants to improve children’s health, but instead the President’s budget proposes to slash #WIC’s fruit & vegetable benefits by >$1.3 billion for >5 million young children & new/expecting parents who are struggling to make ends meet.
