The Brain-Computer Interface (#BCI, #BMI) đ§ community has been abuzz thanks to this ground-breaking research from AI at Meta and BCBL on decoding text directly from brain signals. We're highlighting the key aspects of this paper for those who haven't had the time to read it yet.

Wrapping up todayâs sessions, chaired by Yashar Moshfeghi! Two fantastic talks by Professor Simon Schultz and Professor Simon Hanslmayr. What an inspiring and informative day celebrating the launch of the Neurotechnology Centre University of Strathclyde! #innovation #collaboration #Neuroscience

đ¨Very happy to say that our full paper (\w Yashar Moshfeghi) titled "Towards Brain Passage Retrieval: An Investigation of EEG Query Representations' has been accepted as a full paper for #SIGIR2025 You can find the preprint here (arxiv.org/abs/2412.06695) SIGIR 2025 NeuraSearch Laboratory

We are thrilled to announce that our research group has had two papers accepted for presentation at the 48th International ACM SIGIR Conference on Research and Development in Information Retrieval (SIGIR 2025 ) in Padua, Italy! đ

The first paper, titled âTowards Brain Passage Retrieval An Investigation of EEG query representationsâ was accepted to the full paper track, authored by Niall McGuire and Yashar Moshfeghi, introduces a framework that enables direct retrieval of passages from users' brain signals.

The second paper, âBrain-Machine Interfaces & Information Retrieval Challenges and Opportunitiesâ, a perspective paper authored by Yashar Moshfeghi and Niall McGuire , presents an inspiring vision for the future integration of Brain-Machine Interface (BMI) technologies in IR.

Congratulations to Manish Chandra Debasis Ganguly and Iadh Ounis for being awarded the Best Paper Award at #ECIR2025 for their work entitled âOne size doesnât fit all: Predicting the number of examples for in-context learningâ. The paper will be presented Wednesday morning in Lucca.

Our NeuraSearch Laboratory has just released the preprint of our upcoming SIGIR 2025 Perspective Paper: "Brain-Machine Interfaces & Information Retrieval: Challenges and Opportunities." arxiv.org/abs/2504.10371

In this comprehensive paper, Dr Yashar Moshfeghi and Niall McGuire present a structured analysis of how Brain-Machine Interface technologies could fundamentally transform information access systems. The work identifies critical research opportunities across three dimensions:

Our group PI Yashar Moshfeghi is currently attending ACM CHI Conference 2025 in Yokohama presenting his joint work with Niall McGuire on Pilot Error Classification Using NeuroPhysiological Measures! - You can find him North 1F - LBW - 225 if you'd like to know more!

If youâre attending SDRC today, Iâll be here with my poster, presenting my project completed with William McGeown and Yashar Moshfeghi exploring Information Access! Scottish Dementia Research Consortium (SDRC) Brain Health ARC NeuraSearch Laboratory #dementia #research #techforgood #LLMs #GenAI

Launch day for the Images of Research exhibition đ¨ Very proud that our entry titled, âDementia in the Age of Gen-AIâ was shortlisted for the final exhibition! Yashar Moshfeghi Images of Research #image #dementia #Tech4All
