How not to use power: -Demean others -Brag about yourself -Complain about how you're treated If that's your M.O., you may hold a position of authority, but you're no leader. Leaders don't take credit for doing good. They take responsibility for doing better. #WednesdayWisdom

Narcissistic leaders refuse to change and choose to stagnate. Humble leaders adapt to make themselves better. Servant leaders reinvent themselves to make the people around them better. #SaturdayThoughts

The key to productivity isn't habits or hacks. It's motivation. When you find your work exciting, you're naturally drawn into starting it. When it has a real impact on those around you, you become driven to persist until you finish it. #MondayMotivation tim.blog

Not surprising for me at all - when you have to engage in the information in a meaningful way through problem solving and/or physical activity, you form stronger connections! If you can, I always try to make my training multi-faceted, including lecture, application, visual, etc!

1. Be a collaborator, not an opponent. 2. Speak human to human. 3. Anticipate reactions and plan countermoves. 4. Replace blame with curiosity. 5. Ask for feedback on how you communicate. 6. Measure psychological safety. s.hbr.org/36zOK49

When everyone wants to be the smartest person in the room, teams become dumb and dumber. When people strive to raise the intelligence in the room, teams become smarter. Surround yourself with people who focus more on improving others than proving themselves. #MondayMotivation

After women get promoted to CEO, they’re 2x as likely as men to get divorced. Apparently one of the reasons is male ego. Hey men: when the women you love succeed, it's not a threat to your status. It's a cause for celebration. #SundayThoughts #wef20 theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…

Our companies and countries need leaders who are givers, not takers. Takers demand attention. Givers pay attention. Takers brag about success. Givers take responsibility for failure. Takers aim to be better than others. Givers strive to do better for others. #wef20 #davos2020

How can you expect others to exhibit behaviors if you yourself don't have the discipline or adequate processes/environment to do so?

Greatness is something you pursue, not something you achieve. It starts with holding your present self to higher standards than your past self. You don't get to lower the bar once you've made it. The higher you climb, the more responsible you are for continuing to raise it.

Diversity often makes us uncomfortable. That’s one of the reasons it has value. Discomfort motivates us to think more deeply, prepare more carefully, and explain ourselves more thoroughly. RIP Kathy Phillips—a groundbreaking scholar and a great person. nytimes.com/2020/02/13/bus…

The best feature of Zoom meetings isn’t seeing people’s faces. It’s reading their comments in the chat. When people write down their independent insights before discussing, we get more diversity of thought. The loudest voice rarely has the best ideas. #WednesdayWisdom

💯 This - so often I see people concerned with teamwork & engagement, but they haven't providers the basic components of a team!

It's nice to be needed, but it's healthier to be valued. Being needed creates dependence: people are helpless without us, so it becomes difficult to say no. Being valued maintains independence: there's no pressure to say yes. Helping becomes a choice, not a chore.
