Passed my oral qualifying exam and finally a Ph.D candidate at Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Thank you Michael J. Ackerman MD,PhD for you mentorship!

My PhD student Kevin Gao from Mayo Clinic Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences presenting his poster now AHA Science #AHA2021 virtual meeting. Cool work & neat thesis on a relatively new SCN5A-opathy. Way to go Kevin.

My first AHAMeetings poster presentation on SCN5A-associated Multifocal Ectopic Purkinje-Related Premature Contractions (MEPPC) goes live! Thanks to the mentorship from Michael J. Ackerman MD,PhD John Giudicessi MD, PhD

Our latest study on a novel functional variant outside SCN5A encoded Nav1.5 voltage-sensing domain causing multifocal ectopic Purkinje-related premature contractions (MEPPC) is now available on Heart Rhythm Case Reports. John Giudicessi MD, PhD Michael J. Ackerman MD,PhD doi.org/10.1016/j.hrcr…

Very fortunate to have Kevin Gao on my team. Kevin is a PhD student Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and just finished is first ever presentation AHAMeetings. The model system that he has developed for Multifocal Ectopic Purkinje-Related PVCs is really cool. Great work Kevin.

Very excited to share my work on iPSC-CM modeling for MEPPC at #AHA22 Grateful to have the opportunity to work under the mentorship of Michael J. Ackerman MD,PhD John Giudicessi MD, PhD and the amazing team at Mayo Clinic Genetic Heart Rhythm Clinic

Thanks HeartRhythm & congrats to my Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences PhD student Kevin Gao on his characterization of a lidocaine/mexiletine-insensitive LQT3-causative mutation. Unfortunately, we were unable to become smart enough soon enough for the beautiful girl who owned this variant.

Kevin Gao made Mayo Clinic Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences & my team look very good here Heart Rhythm Society #HRS2023 w/ his talk on the 3-D structural analysis of the sodium channel & its ability to help distinguish “noise” from true #disease causing #genetic variants.

I got to start my week Mayo Clinic Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences w/ a truly special “Team Ackerman” event. Kevin Gao successfully defended his PhD today & soon will be recognized as Dr. Gao. So excited for & proud of Kevin! 🤗 Next step - postdoc Stanford CVI

In the life of a mentor, this past wk was unforgettable. 3 of my PhD students: Kevin Gao Ramin Garmany & Sahej Bains successfully defended their PhD thesis. I started as their adviser, grew into their mentor, and became their “father”. So PROUD of them!
