Shocked at the West Lothian Council proposed closure of local pools. I grew up swimming in Broxburn pool three times a week. My swim training taught me about discipline and team work. Swimming is an essential skill for children and this decision must be reversed @HannahB4LiviMP

When Dr Laura Williams lost her husband at 35 she was left alone with 3 kids under 5. Nothing prepared her for that grief & loss. To make it worse, bereavement support payments have been cut to just 18 months. I’m so glad the PM has agreed to met us to discuss what more can be done🙏.

After meeting with the prime minister Rishi Sunak earlier, I am delighted that he has committed to a further meeting with Mel Stride at the Department for Work and Pensions to discuss the issue of the bereavement support payments for widowed parents. Thank you to @HannahB4LiviMP for facilitating.
I remember reporting on this change when it came in. I was presenting on LBC and a man called in to tell me had been given just weeks to live. But he said he would be better dying quickly because surviving would cost his family £50k. Today Dr Laura Williams raised this with PM
Productive discussion today with WAY Widowed and Young ChildhoodBereavement regarding the bereavement support payment ahead of @HannahB4LiviMP and I meeting Mel Stride tomorrow. We will be asking what the government will do to rectify the current situation for bereaved families.
We're saddened this morning to hear of the death of the inimitable Frank Field. Bereaved children and their parents couldn't have hoped for a better champion as he and the Work & Pensions Committee 'took up the cudgels' on their behalf. Thank you🙏 committees.parliament.uk/committee/164/…
