Historic Vids London in the mid-1960s: a time when you could casually walk down Downing Street, stroll right up to the door of No. 10, and snap a photo without a second thought.

📽️The conventional wisdom is the US has been FAR softer on Russia under Donald Trump than under Joe Biden. But look closer - esp at sanctions - and it's not quite as simple as that... Not at all... A deep dive, featuring the most psychedelic chart ever to appear on Sky News

Remember how successive govts promised to clamp down on unskilled immigration and ramp up skilled migration? Latest figs show visas for health/care workers have fallen to the lowest level in at least a decade. Other skilled worker visas are also down. Unskilled routes are up.

This is a sober, hard-headed and realistic assessment of the prospects for peace in Ukraine. It makes for difficult reading for those who think the past week or so has indicated a pathway to peace. spectator.co.uk/article/putins…

THAT’S IT? This is what 20 years’ worth of spent nuclear fuel looks like safely stored at the former Maine Yankee nuclear plant. The plant generated 119 billion kilowatt hours of reliable power from 1972-1996, which is enough to power half a million homes each year.

“The cheap energy economy,” wrote Robert Allen in his book The British Industrial Revolution in Global Perspective, “was the foundation of Britain’s economic success.” "Truly, our net zero policy is a massive case of self harm by the UK," writes John Redwood.

You don’t seem to understand. The 30% doesn’t help you on the days when wind is weak or non-existent. Or when it is so strong the turbines have to be switched off (then paid to do nothing). And when full costs (fossil fuel back up, upgrade of grid, fresh connections, subsidies)

Conservatism by John Redwood. It would have been interesting had Redwood became PM when he challenged Major. In my long CS career, JR was the cleverest of all the Ministers I worked for and on a personal level, one of the nicest. johnredwoodsdiary.com/2025/08/24/con…

No, even if it was going ahead, the development would not produce “low-cost renewable energy for ~55,000 homes”. The numbers don’t add-up. To the generation cost & for the supply of *reliable* power, you have to add back-up, grid & balancing. Wales needs a full energy debate.
