What’s your process when starting a new track?

waves on .wav Pick an instrument, either guitar, piano, bass or drum(machine), lay down an idea and build around it

I always start with a Kick and the rest of the percussion section then start the melody and the baselines and I usually leave the mix and mastering to someone else

waves on .wav Depends on mood and spare time. Either loading a Reaper template or loading an older track and stripping all the notes, automations, envelopes.

waves on .wav I open up 4 or 5 empty instrument tracks and start digging through my synths and just riffing on the keys.

waves on .wav weakness has to be melodies, after 2 bars my brain is fried

Melody for sure. I have no shame in saying I dig and dig for loops. Especially after finding out all of my favorite producers do the same.
