Perhaps my least favorite Vermont map of all time. It translates to a clear and present danger to all Vermont kids under 12 & many others, as well as a very strange & harmful turn from helping our most vulnerable by Governor Phil Scott who refuses to issue a mask mandate.

210 new cases today. More sick Vermonters. More dying Vermonters. More long covid in the months & years ahead. More & yet more transmission. To kids, elderly, immunocompromised, you, them, us. Governor Phil Scott could stop so much of this transmission but chooses, daily, not to.

A one-year pilot program, signed into law in July, reimburses schools that serve local food to students. Some lawmakers hope to make the program permanent. #vtpoli vtdigger.org/2021/09/19/sch…

We’ve just surpassed the death toll of the 1918 flu pandemic in the US. People are choosing life, health, family, maybe even happiness. The #vtleg sought to add $25/week to state unemployment benefits. VT Dept of Labor killed it in the dark. Extend PUA, help struggling families. #vtpoli

To the Castleton University Class of 2021 -- thank you for the gift of Adirondack chairs all around campus. They create great places to read or have a conversation.

.VT Dept of Health now reporting 174 cases of COVID ‘while infectious’ in k-12 schools over the past 7 days. That’s the highest weekly total in #VT schools since the beginning of the pandemic, and 50% more cases than the previous weekly record of 115, which occurred back in April

(1/2) A recent report from Urban Institute found that, in 2020, the maximum #SNAP benefit did not cover the cost of a low-income meal in 96% of US counties. Even with the 15% increase to benefits in January of 2021, which will expire on September 30, there was still a 41% gap.

Springfield School Board resolution banning the teaching of CRT fails on a 3-2 vote. Close, but still a hard won victory for equity and honesty in education. Thanks to 150+ students, community members, and leaders who showed up for justice. #vtpoli #vted
