How have I never noticed this? “Sin is crouching at your door.” —Gen 4:7 “Sin, by its nature, makes itself look smaller than it really is.” —Timothy Keller (1950-2023)

🥳A thrilling breakthrough in Chinese archaeology and literature! Bamboo slips from the Marquis of Haihun tomb in Jiangxi province have revealed the first known complete version of The Book of Songs (Shi Jing), dating to the Qin (221-206 BC) and Han (206 BC-AD 220) dynasties.📜

One thing that really impressed me about ETS: the ecclesiastically serious wings of the SBC and the PCA are putting out really excellent scholarship. Should be pretty humbling for Anglican to be honest. We’re not doing anything like that.

We need to return to reading books with charity. If you go in looking for something to dispute, you’ll always find it. The person with a hammer sees nails everywhere. You can still acknowledge disagreements, of course, but that’s not the same as aiming for critique. Love hopes

We noticed something sobering in family worship today: in Genesis 27, Jacob uses a dead goat and his brother’s robes to deceive his father; in Genesis 37, Joseph’s brothers use a dead goat and their brother’s robes to deceive Jacob.

“At its most essential, postliberals argue that … politics should be reoriented from its one-sided focus on maximizing individual autonomy, as the overriding goal characteristic of liberal orders, to promoting the common good.”

Easter is not pagan; it was celebrated from the very beginning. And besides, we should listen to Bede on the origin of the English word Easter, not randos doing their own research on Google Gemini. wyattgraham.com/p/when-did-chr…

One reason why we must speak of Christ's satisfaction (not just a passive idea of suffering on the cross) is that it is precisely that satisfaction of justice that God by faith imputes to us, apart from which, we lack justifying righteousness.

Did you know that the family of Jesus played a key role in the early church’s leadership? We know a lot more about them than you might imagine. Read this article to learn more: wyattgraham.com/p/what-happene…

God became a wiggling baby to get close to you, cause he loved you so much. Or whatever the Keller tweet was, but it's also very true. It's incredible to me that people cannot see that God's glory can also mean God's mercy or love as a cause. Efficient & final causes exist too

If you a seminary student or a pastor looking for Bible software, this Green Bundle from Accordance is, without a doubt, the best deal on the planet. I've been recommending this bundle for years. It's only $200 and comes with: BHS, LXX, NA28 (w/ cross-refs), Greek diagrams, etc.

Early reformed authors maintain that God justifies us by faith in Christ through the imputation of his merits; that good works follow our justification by God’s appointment as a means to life; & that these works do not merit life. ca.thegospelcoalition.org/columns/detrin…

I wrote here on a neglected distinction in reformed theology between the right to life and the way to life in the doctrine of justification and good works. Particularly, I outline how Petrus van Mastricht describes this distinction. wyattgraham.com/p/petrus-van-m…
