Wonderful first evening of the Life in the Spirit seminar at StB last nite. Welcoming 3 friends from Well Hall RC Church to take part which was humbling too. Renewal in the Spirit always bears the fruit of unity.

This weekend on the Sunday at 11am I was ordained priest by +Roy in Southwark Cathedral now 31 years ago. Thanks be to God.

Tomorrow evening our Life in the Spirit session is an act of worship during which we will pray the Spirit will come generously to those who seek Him. Pray with us...Come Holy Spirit..Emi Mo Wah...

In the scriptures there is a lot of teaching about roads. In this second week of Advent let us invite the Holy Spirit to create a smooth road into our lives for Christ to travel. Offer him no resistance. #Advent

This Sunday 22nd at 6pm is our Carol Service for Mercy Ships. Maureen a church member is going to serve on the Global Mercy in March 2025. Hear more from her and hear the story of Jesus whose Spirit makes all this happen on Sunday at 6pm at StB.

We welcome to StB today the children, staff and parents of Henwick Primary School for their Carol Service at 2pm.

Amid a very difficult time in the life of the CofE, yesterday saw a lovely carol service at StB with a congregation larger than last year and the year before too. And we raised more than 100 pounds for the work of Mercy Ships where one of our number will spend Lent 2025 nursing.

A very strong attendance at Midnight Mass and Christmas Day services by adults + children suggests continued recovery post Covid. People value local ministry and the gospel proclaimed in ordinary parish churches. This is the beating heart of #MyChurchOfEngland.

While we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God & Saviour, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse & to make us His very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds. Titus 2:13-14

How encouraging! This morning is often one of the lowest Sundays numerically but today we had an average Sunday congregation. About 50% up on the average for this week. People coming to hear about Jesus in #mychurchofengland

This is a kairos time in the Church of England, though it is obscured by the current heat and pressure of news coverage. Aristotle defined kairos time as a significant or propitious moment. Accordingly we at StB will be supporting this prayer initiative from @ResourceARM.

We welcome Henwick Primary to StB today as part of Key Stage learning about the Christian faith. The class are focusing on the various parts of the building such as the font and altar to learn about how the church works.

Pray for our Life in the Spirit Seminar starting Thursday at 7pm being run jointly with Ss John Fisher and Thomas More RC Church. Evidence of the Holy Spirit drawing Christians together in fellowship and study.

On Thursday at 7pm we continue our Life in the Spirit seminar with prayer for a fresh outpouring of God's Spirit. Roman Catholics and Anglicans studying and praying together in SE9. Jesus is Lord!

Just attended the 1230 Eucharist at Durham Cathedral advertised as for the Feast of St Bernard Mizeki. But...absolutely no mention of Bernard...not even one word. #unimpressed.

I am glad that the Catholic Church is speaking out about this. C of E bishops seem to have gone quiet…..

This is the list of the bishops who voted to return church commissioners funding away from modern schemes and back to the parishes where it was intended to go. Thank you very much to them. They were wise - and courageous.
