If you are a #homeeducating parent and want to help explain this, please answer my survey here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI…

Risible "debate" in parliament, where politicians who don't appear to understand current law pat each other on the back for wanting to restrict #HomeEducation despite no evidence for their preferences and strong opposition from the families impacted. hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2024-0…

Yet politicians across the spectrum want to hand more power to interfere with families to local authorities, claiming it will "help" #homeeducated children. Imagine thinking councils care about children's education!

If a school gives a child a detention for drinking water, it should be shut down. Literal prisoners are treated better than this. And the government wonders why more people are choosing #HomeEducation? Children are humans too, they have #HumanRights!

Those in the educational establishment have an amazing degree of contempt for parents. We need to hold them to account - anybody who claims to have a greater interest in or understanding of children than the parents should become liable for their advice and policies.

Her real agenda, shown by her smears against #HomeEducation (which she still hasn't substantiated despite orders from the ICO), is to squash the alternative pedagogies home educating families use and prevent us from showing up the school system. Real truancy doesn't come into it!

What a funny way to say "parents". There is no "home ed lobby" except families who home educate. We're not funded, we're not extreme, we're just concerned that people like you don't think the existing registers are enough, and demand we submit to constant surveillance!

"provisional wing" For stepping up to their legal duty to ensure their child receives an education by taking the responsibility on themselves, parents are equated to terrorists?

Another day, another parent receives a very serious letter in the post. Their child's school attendance level has triggered legal action under the Single Justice Procedure. The parent has to respond by telling the magistrate if they are guilty or not guilty. 1/

Social workers and government trying to pin Sara Sharif's death on her being home schooled, long after she had been in school and known to social services, is an absolute disgrace. Social Services failed this little girl. Our child protection system fails too many. #SaraSharif

#SaraSharif was not a hidden child. As in the tragic case of Victoria Climbié, she simply fell through the gaps and was failed by services involved in her life. Concerns had been raised and seemingly not acted upon within a multi agency framework #saveathoughtforthechildren

Children's Commissioner for England Rachel, Frankly? You should be ashamed. This response appears to be nothing more than a purely opportunistic grab at an appalling case, aimed at pushing through contentious legislation that has long been in the works. It would seem you either have wholly insufficient knowledge
