We would like to showcase Alejandro Barragan, a Ph.D student in Prof. Lorenzo's Lab. He is currently testing alternative plasmonic materials to drive chemical reactions by using sunlight instead of heat. This would decrease the generation of greenhouse gas emissions.

Professor Aguilar and CICESE (Ensenada, Mexico) Professor Santiago Camacho have been studying the oxidation effect of a laser beam in metal thin films. In these images the different coloration corresponds to different oxidation species.

Crysthal Alvarez is an undergraduate mechanical engineering major at UCR, and has been part of Dr. Guillermo Aguilar's Window to the Brain lab since Summer of 2016. She was awarded an Honorable Mention for her poster presentation at the UC CAMP Symposium at UCI. Go Crysthal!

Vicente Robles, a Ph.D. student in Dr. Aguilar’s lab, was awarded a Ford Foundation Fellowship to support his research and goal of becoming a research professor. Vicente says, “I owe this accomplishment to my family, mentors/friends. Shout-out to the Robles family. Si se puede.”

This past weekend, the UCR SkyTeam met two experts in Software Design and Electronics. Jose Manriquez and Nicholas Farrell work on NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Centre project Prandtl-M and came out to UCR to work with students on SkyTeam's drone project! NASA

Jeanette Cobian has been selected as a summer intern for the NASA DEVELOP National program at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. She will be working on projects in various focus areas including Disasters, Ecological Forecasting, and Health and Air Quality. Go Jeanette!!!
