it's 2023, and everyone has an opinion on trans people (mostly uninformed opinions) so bbs, hatchlings, eggies: picking a name that will be "easy" for your cis friends and family to adapt to isn't going to help them accept you they're going to love or hate you regardless

Thinking about this is always hard. I'm so so happy to have found myself, and as I discover who I am I am often struck by the three decades of time I lost. That sense of lost time, and the grief that goes with it, will never go away. It's ok, I'm ok... and it's ok when it isn't.

Part of broadening the industry has to mean broadening the sort of games we print. That seems obvious: why else would we broaden the industry? Why would we expect Jane Doe's game to look like a Reiner Knizia game? We already have Knizia games.

Daniel Clark As evidence, look at other game genres that don't have publisher gatekeepers. In my early surveys on Escape Rooms, almost half of escape room designers were women. In the Indie RPG industry, there's an incredible spread of ideas and diverse viewpoints.

I've run, participated in, and observed hundreds of playtests (my games and others). Women and other marginalized genders are far above par when it comes to giving & receiving design feedback. More thoughtful, more helpful, less self-centered, and better able to handle rejection.

Catching up on games, finally got through NeiR: Automata.. and Weight of the World sure hits hard when you're a trans femme living in these times... 🎶 I'm only one girl 🎶... Anyway, the game is art. Everyone should play it.

Just like it’s bad form for a DM to turn the players into dialog-generating plot pawns in their scripted epic fantasy yarn, it’s also bad form for the players to turn the DM into a dispenser for personal cool and heroic moments and story and plot cues. It goes both ways.
