Yes! When kids acquire the skills and they know how to read, they will naturally love reading and all the joy it promotes. They can't live reading when they're struggling to decode.

Vocabulary knowledge is 1 of the largest contributors to reading comprehension (RC). According to Stahl & Nagy(2006),vocabulary knowledge contributes 50-60% of the variance in RC. A consistent vocab instructional routine is a powerful tool every teacher needs in their tool box!

Yes! Unfortunately, some school districts still think that purchasing fancy programs, with no support for teachers, will fix the problem. Unless we invest in building teacher capacity, those struggling 20% will continue to struggle.
