Ted O’Brien obliterated & exposed on #Insiders for having absolutely no idea about “how much of the energy mix will be Nuclear” under his plan. David Speers “Do u know this answer?” “Do u know the answer to this question?” “Do u know this?” O’Brien does not know.💥🔥

Very disturbing pattern of Facebook removing clean energy posts on Australia’s leading renewal energy news outlet ⁦Renew Economy⁩ This is a must read piece. reneweconomy.com.au/we-published-a…

‘Ultimately’ there are those revered as the smart clever types, who are most often found to be utter wankers by the rest of us. And wrong.

When Dutton, Littleproud & O'Brien point at Ontario to claim power prices are low because of nuclear they neglect to mention the nuclear power plants get a multi-billion regulated revenue stream that sits outside the electricity market. More detail here: rds.oeb.ca/CMWebDrawer/Re…

"From the examples we analysed, we found the cost of electricity generated from nuclear plants would be 1.5 to 3.8 times higher than current electricity generation costs in Australia" Tristan Edis theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

#Insiders host David Speers will surely mention the extremely high costs of nuclear and the analysis by Johanna Bowyer & Tristan Edis in the Guardian Australia this week. #auspol #energy #nuclear theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

NEW: IT'S NOT JUST THE UK! 🟢The UK is 14th OECD country to become coal-free. 🟢OECD coal power falls to less than HALF of its peak in 2007. 🟢All but 5 OECD countries have seen falls of at least 30% from peak coal power (lovely dataviz from Chelsea Bruce-Lockhart) 🧵

Impressive to see how Spain transformed its electricity system. Back in 2000, there was hardly any solar or wind and 36% came from burning coal. Today 50% comes from renewables, 21% comes from nuclear, and less than 2% from coal.

Good thread here. Solar PV manufacturer is like silicon computer chips - whoever has the newest and biggest factory has the lowest cost. That means you either invest & upgrade or you become uncompetitive and die. See the book Chip War - booktopia.com.au/chip-war-chris…

Our report on nuclear power increasing bills is based on the past 20 years of EU and USA nuclear construction history. If O'Brien and Dutton think they have a better understanding of nuclear construction costs than US & EU experience please detail it. reneweconomy.com.au/if-peter-dutto…

ABC's 4 Corners went to the USA to see what their experience could tell us about the cost of nuclear. They found the same thing as our own research (ieefa.org/resources/nucl…): Dutton's plan for nuclear with drive up your power bill. abc.net.au/news/2024-10-0… via ABC Australia
