A few simple answers: patriarchy / oppressive cultural values / lack of vision to see what happens when you empower the women in your society #WeMatter @ahiveco

Behavioural change can only happen when the thoughts and beliefs that underlie the behaviour are examined changed. The stereotypes around women being limited are foundational and this basically fuels the gender gap #WEMatter

More numbers: According to a 2018 report by WorldBank the gender pay gap has resulted in a $160 trillion loss to the global economy. Trillion y'all. Wild. #WeMove @ahiveco

I also want us, women - to change our economic behaviors in key ways. One idea: know your worth, use your voice, ask for more or build your own table. You don't get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate. #TellThemRunYouYourCoins #TakeUpSpace #WeMatter

Because gender inequality has been institutionalized and as is the case with institutionalization - it can take years - sometimes centuries to tear the structures down Eniola Mafe MI Abaga Demotivational Speaker

Internalize: women have more power than they think. We often give up our power because we think we have none. Example: not paying attention to your finances or as is the case in this environment - letting the male partner take charge and not participating in financial decisions.

Even more critical is the severity of the 75% political participation gap according to World Economic Forum. How do we expect to drive forward progress for women when - as of February 2019 - only three countries (Rwanda, Cuba, and Bolivia) had 50% or more women in parliament? #WeMatter @ahiveco

It goes without saying that when women are missing from the seats of power that govern states, there is a chance that the policies necessary to protect and empower the most vulnerable amongst us – women and children – will be overlooked #WeMatter #EconomicEmpowerment

Purchased my 1st property at 24 yrs old. I'm just sharing this so I can repel all the men and women who still believe these oppressive narratives. Financial smarts should be a pre-requisite for marriage as it's one of the leading causes of divorce. But what do I know? #WeMatter

On a final note: Ladies - please for the love of everything good & blessed - stop accepting the first offer for your salary. A study showed over 60% of women never ask for more. STOP. If you don't know how to negotiate - then ask a coach or choose to be bold #WeMatter @ahiveco

So…Twitter is still banned in Nigeria. The shutdown has cost the country over N400M (est.) in two months. Turns out this shutdown is one of hundreds happening per year mostly across Africa and Asia: theverge.com/2021/9/1/22649… #KeepItOn

I do. While women continue to demand equity at the workplace - truth is we still bear the “double burden” that slows down advancement for many women. So - yes - we’re at the workplace but we’re also running households. We’re working double shifts: inbreakthrough.org/double-burden-…
