There is a stark disconnect between the Administration's stated intention to review foreign assistance under the lens of what makes America safer, stronger, and more prosperous and the reality of these sweeping cuts.

We are encouraged by the steps the Trump Administration is taking to provide sanctions relief to Syria. The Syrian people deserve the opportunity to rebuild and prosper.

InterAction is encouraged that the latest State Department reorganization proposal to Congress incorporated recommendations from the humanitarian & development community. Stronger leadership, oversight & program alignment of foreign assistance will enhance efficiency & impact.

Our President and CEO, Tom Hart joined Tom Fletcher and the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Principals this week in Geneva. Despite significant headwinds, the humanitarian mission continues. The Principals are working to ensure aid remains effective and adapts to these changing times.

Smaller organizations were hurt more by foreign aid cuts, writes Amy Schoenfeld Walker. “Suddenly pulling the rug from beneath them hurts the idea of helping countries reach self-reliance, a goal the first Trump administration rightly sought," says Tom Hart. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

The facts are simple and devastating: Aid cuts have already cost lives, and the number of deaths will continue to rise. Here’s the evidence.

InterAction is dismayed that the federal appeals court has allowed the Trump Administration to refuse to spend previously allocated foreign aid funds. We encourage GAO & Congress to see that Congressionally appropriated money continues enhancing America’s security & prosperity.

🚨 Famine has been confirmed in Gaza by The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification. Every hour that assistance is denied, more families are pushed beyond the point of survival. Gaza must be flooded with humanitarian aid. Airdrops and small-scale convoys are insufficient.

Gov Accountability Office has long ruled pocket rescissions unconstitutional, yet Trump plans to cancel $4.9B in Congressional-approved foreign aid. Programs like childhood ed & clean water will all be affected. This defiance of Congress's power of the purse demands pushback

The announcement of a ceasefire agreement and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas brings hope that two years of unrelenting suffering, displacement, and destruction will finally come to an end. We applaud President Trump and regional leaders for securing this agreement.

This is a hopeful moment, with a lot of hard work ahead. The humanitarian community stands ready to deliver. All administrative barriers to delivering life-saving assistance must be removed to ensure that unhindered aid can flow to those most in need immediately.

We have many more tough than good days in this work. But yesterday, seeing so many trucks moving to Gaza, was a good one. This scale up is direct result of ceasefire agreement. There are many frustrations and complications. We still have mountain to climb. But I’m more hopeful.
