I published a book! This study aims to understand #IPV desistance processes, and the strategies used by victims-survivors to keep themselves safe and support desistance. If you're interested in #ipv #desistance #criminalcareers this is for you!

I loved every chapter of Judith Herman’s: Truth & Repair, how trauma survivors envision justice. It is a beautiful and powerful exploration of the insights and wisdom of survivors ❤️‍🔥 Essential reading if we are serious about ‘valuing/embedding lived experience’ in DFV work.

A new book by Evan Stark focuses on ‘Children of coercive control’. Released in the UK in October. amazon.co.uk/Coercive-Contr…

Children are victims of coercive control domestic abuse in their own right. They experience this abuse directly when targeted by the perpetrator and indirectly when used as tools of abuse against the non-abusing parent and when exposed to such.

Correction! I am being informed Susan Schechter coined the term #coercivecontrol, not Evan Stark who published “Coercive Control” in 2009. Googling to find out more brought me to this paper from 2007 digitalcommons.du.edu/cgi/viewconten… and Schechter’s 1982 book. Thanks Tracy Castelino!

Can Australia’s Action Plans actually reduce the killing of women & children?   It has taken 10 months since the National Plan was launched to have the Action Plans released: we want & need momentum. My piece with Marie Segrave & @SilkeMeyer_DFV canberratimes.com.au/story/8314194/… Canberra Times

PA or parental alienation is never applicable in cases of domestic violence or when there are reasons to suspect that there are other explanations for a child's distance from a parent. It also requires that there was a prior good relationship between the child and that parent.
