Checked out a paddock of #Pallaton #Raphanobrassica spring sown, versus #Titan #Rape this morning, with Elders rep in Southern #Tasmania. Titan performed well, but Pallaton showing very good #plant #density and #productivity right into #winter

That is a great photo Emma. Are you suggesting that the lambs ate the Pallaton , but preferred eating dry standing grass over the crop on the other side? Animals tell the story.

Stamina GT6 up and cracking on King Island - a very well prepared virgin paddock, with the perfect season to get away with sowing “late spring” (in January) #homegrownfeed #pggwrightsonseeds #lucerne #grazing #hay

Ever wondered why the first nip off graze is SO important? Here is a quick video with some key tips for setting up new pasture this autumn so you can get the most from this amazing home grown feed.

Great follow up trip to Tassie to see #foragekale well into its growing season. Slightly mind boggling numbers with 450ha, looking to feed 3000 cows with a likely yield up around 18T. #homegrownfeed #winteringcows #seriousdrycowtucker

#Pallton #raphnobrassica being well grazed in autumn in Tasmania. This species seems to thrive on what would otherwise be considered “abuse” in #foragebrassica circles. Rotationally grazed (hard!) with good numbers, feed to production numbers - its a serious beast in the paddock!

Great to see the work #TasmanianInsituteofAgriculture is doing around establishing #legumes in #phalaris - even in the tough end of the season some clear differences were visible which may change how farmers aim to incorporate #quality into #pasture

Some amazing differences in persistency showing up, and highlighting the value of trials in various locations. What do you think has caused the differences?

#Steers loving the #Pallaton #Raphanobrassica in NE Tasmania. 210 x 400kg steers took 20 days to graze first 7.5ha quarter under pivot irrigation. Should provide #beef feed until end of winter, then sow down to #chicory and #clover blend. Elders Thomas Elder Consulting Meat & Livestock Australia
