We did the math right at Tax Foundation, including producing a dynamic score of the tax provisions. The House bill as written unambiguously increases deficits.

The one big beautiful bill goes in the right direction in many ways but it's less pro-growth than TCJA (0.8% long run GDP impact vs. 1.7% in our original analysis) and adds more to deficits (0.5% of GDP on dynamic basis over budget window vs. 0.2%). Should boost growth/cut costs.

While it would be more expensive than just a fix, and, on the margin, Congress should be looking for pay-fors rather than more tax cuts, full CAMT repeal may be much less expensive than previously thought. hubs.ly/Q03pY_l70

The one big beautiful bill takes a hatchet to the IRA credits but leaves fully intact the IRA's corporate alternative minimum tax, the most dysfunctional part of the IRA. Senate should make the CAMT less bad or scrap it all together. See new analysis by Alex Muresianu.

It’s been a whirlwind 24 hours in tariff news: first, a trade court blocked Trump’s sweeping new tariffs, calling them executive overreach. Then, a federal appeals court reinstated them—at least for now. hubs.ly/Q03q0Hpy0

By failing to make the most pro-growth policies like full expensing permanent, lawmakers are missing an opportunity to DOUBLE the bill’s economic growth impact.

reminder: the much milder metals tariffs in Trump’s first term boosted metals production by $2.8 billion annually, but higher metals prices reduced output in downstream industries (manufacturing, construction, etc) by $3.4 billion annually. that’s a net loss in production.
