Deep learning of how electron moves between atoms? In their new paper, Paul Henderson (University of Glasgow), Maks Serbyn (ISTAustria) et al. harness the power of deep learning to get insights into complex 2D materials like trilayer graphene. The beginning of the universe was a soup of quarks and gluons that was hotter than you can imagine. But particle physicists Brookhaven Lab can imagine it. They reproduce these conditions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, as covered in WIRED: wired.com/story/little-b…

So very close to getting arbitrary expression graphs working in PySR & SymbolicRegression.jl... github.com/SymbolicML/Dyn… I think this would let you use PySR for full-blown program synthesis

Here’s a follow up to our initial interpretable #ML paper that digs more into the result of #PySR. Also shows a clean application of network pruning from 16k parameters to 43 parameters without sacrificing performance. arxiv.org/abs/2402.10945

Thanks to Brookhaven Lab for this years RHIC-AGS Merit award! I’m happy to be apart of the sPHENIX and RHIC communities. linkedin.com/posts/tanner-m…

This is a vast oversimplification. For instance not all “LLM clueless” will not necessarily think AI = bad. While several “LLM savvy” I know seem to have issue with the current course and execution of the field… Nuances are importance

Last week, I successfully defended my PhD thesis, “Underlying Event Fluctuations and Jet Background in √sNN = 200 GeV Au+Au Collisions Using the sPHENIX Detector.” Thanks to University of Tennessee Physics and Astronomy for its support throughout my graduate studies!

Members of the CU Boulder 🦬 experimental nuclear physics group preparing for the Au+Au run in just two weeks at Brookhaven Lab's Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. We are excited to have post-doc Dr. Tanner Mengel Tanner Mengel join the team just in time for sPHENIX data-taking!
